In the Community

 We are fortunate to have built our lives around running and the running community, and feel equally lucky to have a business which enables us to give back – not only to runners, walkers, and triathletes, but to the causes they serve and the greater community. We’re particularly proud of a few initiatives:

Used Shoe Collection for MORE Foundation Group (formerly Perpetual Prosperity Pumps Foundation (PPPF))

We have partnered with the MORE Foundation Group, “a bottom-up approach to eradicating poverty and Rainforest preservation”. The MORE Foundation Group is a not-for-profit Foundation bringing technology and training to the poorest farmers and villages in Ghana West Africa.

The MORE Foundation sponsors the Adopt-A-Family Program, which is funded by the sale of used athletic shoes. Once =PR= reaches a target of collecting 600 donated shoes, we "adopt" a family within a village in Ghana. Our shoes are collected and shipped to Africa where they are then sold to vendors. The proceeds from the sale of these shoes will be used to fund the Adopt-A-Family program and the essential farming needs to ensure a thriving farm.

The vast majority of Africans cannot afford new shoes. The proceeds from the sale of the shoes provide training and tools to the poorest rural farmers. Families receive THE ENTIRE ADOPT-A-FAMILY PROGRAM. In addition to funding several life-changing efforts, collecting used shoes and selling them to locals in Ghana provides additional environmental benefits. So many shoes sit in dark closets, forgotten and never worn, and then end up in landfills. Reusing these shoes further promotes the global efforts to reuse and recycle. 

Bring your slightly used running shoes to any =PR= location and we will happily store them in our used shoe bin for donation to PPP for Africa!

Support for Charity Fundraising Programs Implemented Through Running

We proudly support and contribute to over 200 area road races, and have launched our own non-profit company, =PR= Events, Inc., to put on several more. Each of these events benefits a charitable cause – from nationally recognized charities to more locally relevant school fundraisers. In addition, =PR= owners and staff share their knowledge and experience with participants in a variety of charity fundraising race training programs, serving as volunteer coaches, seminar leaders, and more.

=PR= Award for Excellence Scholarship Program

Since 2006, we have awarded six scholarships to deserving area high school Cross Country and/or Track & Field athletes through the =PR= Award for Excellence. Funded in part by proceeds from our own Twilight Festival 4-Miler race, as well as contributions funded from customer purchases of VIP Program cards and our own contribution, these scholarships reward area athletes for making a difference. Not necessarily won by the fastest or most well-known athletes, the scholarships are awarded to those who work hard; excel academically, in the community, and athletically; and make a major contribution to their teams.
