Running Experience and Accomplishments: Coming from a career in the horse world, Dee has turned to running to stay fit. She has raced from 10k to 50 miles and thinks a day running on the trails is better than cupcakes....maybe.
Favorite....run: The Grand Canyon! Every 10 minutes you saw different types of rock and vegetation. Amazing!
Hometown: Pottstown, PA
Running Experience and Accomplishments: Courtney started out playing lacrosse as child played into her college years. She didn't start just running until about 8 years ago when she decided to run the Marine Corp Marathon. Courtney has run in races ranging from 5Ks to full marathons. Her favorite distance is the half marathon.
Favorite....race: So far it is a tie between the Kentucky Derby miniMarathon because you get to run a lap around Churchill Downs and then the Outer Banks Marathon. Nothing beats the Outer Banks and the community support was amazing!
Running Experience and Accomplishments: You may often see Kimberly, a Montana native, running on the W&OD trail with her Siberian Husky, Finland, by her side. She began running in 1996, and has just completed her first Olympic-distance triathlon.
Hometown: Berlin, WI
Running Experience and Accomplishments: Ashley ran throughout high school and college competitively. She continues to run for fun and to stay in shape! Running has always been a part of her life but she sees it as more of a lifestyle. She participated in multiple races ranging from 1 mile to 1/2 marathons. A full marathon is next on her list!

Hometown: Yorktown, VA
Running Experience and Accomplishments: Hannah swam year-round and had no interest in running until about five years ago. Hannah was not all that fond of running as a child, but grew to love it as a young adult! Running allows her to keep a healthy body as well as a healthy mind. Hannah thinks running is a great way to give her brain a break from grad school!
Favorite....Race: Monument 10K in Richmond, VA. "The race is a lot of fun and it is also very well organized. It feels like a community run composed of friends as opposed to running with complete strangers!"
Hometown: Leesburg, VA
Running Experience and Accomplishments: As a lifelong swimmer and proud finisher of the Chesapeake Bay Swim, Katie reluctantly ran her first 5k in her mid-20s. It was the 'thing' to do. Many, many, many races (and almost a decade) later, she has completed events up to the marathon and most recently Ironman Mt. Tremblant. She continues to train for the fitness and fun of it, and you'll rarely find her out pounding the pavement on her own. It's the social aspect that she enjoys the most. Be sure to say hi if you see her out on the W&OD or local Loudoun communities.
Favorite....Quote: "Left, right, repeat (because it's the only thing that makes sense in the water AND on solid ground)."
Hometown: Oakton, VA
Running Experience and Accomplishments: Amy started running “later in life” as a way to get back in shape after having three kids. She has run a myriad of races from 1 mile to 50 miles, but prefers the marathon distance. She is a =PR= Coach for the Running 101 and Distance Training Programs, is an assistant Cross Country coach at LCHS and coaches middle and elementary aged kids through the KLF Striders program.
Favorite....race: "Freeze Your Gizzard 5K - my first race. I have a love/hate relationship with this race. It's local and fun, but has a hilly, challenging cross country course that will kick your butt every time!"
Running Experience and Accomplishments: Bio coming soon!
Hometown: Reston, VA
Running Experience and Accomplishments: Fred didn't start running until he was in his forties. He ran his first marathon at 54. He has since run eight marathons, twelve half marathons and over 20 ten milers. He is a member of the Marine Corps Marathon Runners Club and is an Army Ten Miler qualified early registrant. Fred hopes to be an example to older runners that the sport is not "just for kids." He jokes that he likes being an older runner because "there are fewer competitors to beat in order to place."
Favorite....Race: The Guardsmen P10 - a ten mile race across the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco and back. "You have to battle the strong wind going one way, but it's a real friend going the other way. And it's sightseeing like you never imagined!"
Hometown: Arlington, VA
Running Experience and Accomplishments: Sue started running in high school and has continued doing it for the last 35 years. In 2012 she finally decided to try a race and finished at the top of her age group, which is "a heck of a lot better than I ever did on the high school track team." She's now trying to increase her distance while moving off the road and onto the trails. "After years of running the same neighborhood loop, it's time for a change."
Favorite....Race: The Run for the Animals 5K, supporting Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary in Poolesville, MD
Hometown: Lovettsville, VA
Running Experience and Accomplishments: Susanne didn't start running until about 5 years ago when she decided to quit smoking and start living a healthier lifestyle for herself and her kids. She thought running would be the perfect activity to prevent her from falling back into bad habits and she was right. She absolutely hated running until she realized that she loved it. Once she ran in her first race and soaked in the atmosphere, the like-minded people and the awesome feeling of accomplishment that came from crossing the finish line, she was completely hooked. It has helped transform her life in so many different ways and is something that she is always happy to share with anyone that will listen or that wants to run along side her!
Favorite....Race: The Army Ten Miler..."Awesome race, awesome people, awesome atmosphere. I love everything about it!"
