Kristen Day

Hometown: Medford, NJ

Running Experience and Accomplishments:  Kristen has been an avid swimmer her whole life and didn't get into running until about age 30. Running is very therapeutic for her and she loves the simplicity of going outside, enjoying nature, and the rhythmic repetitive motion of putting one foot in front of the other. Kristen enjoys participating in 5k's and 10k's with her husband and friends throughout the year. As a yoga instructor, she emphasizes the importance of runners balancing their bodies with stretching.

Favorite....race: "The Women's Distance Festival put on by the Reston Runners. This women only 5k held in June is always so well organized and fun; a great first race for those new to running."

Kylene Peroutky

Hometown: Herndon, VA

Running Experience and Accomplishments: Kylene played soccer all through high school, then played soccer and swam in college. At the time, running was limited to conditioning for soccer. But, once collegiate sports were over, Kylene found herself running more! Kylene finished my first trail half marathon in June and continues to race at the 5K-10 mile distance. Currently Kylene is training for another half marathon and contemplating whether to give in to the peer pressure of fellow co-workers and attempt a marathon!

Favorite....Time to run: "5:30 AM with my mom!"

Elizabeth Van Winkle

Hometown: Purcellville, VA

Running Experience and Accomplishments:  Elizabeth ran cross country and track in college with her favorite race being the Steeplechase. She is currently enjoying running for fun and racing in local races.

Fred hopes to be an example to older runners that the sport is not "just for kids." He jokes that he likes being an older runner because "there are fewer competitors to beat in order to place."

Favorite....Race: The Guardsmen P10 - a ten mile race across the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco and back. "You have to battle the strong wind going one way, but it's a real friend going the other way. And it's sightseeing like you never imagined!"
