On the very last day of September, three of our very own employees took on the September challenge with a mission to run to all 9 stores and the warehouse in a single day. They may have waited until the last minute (or day) but that wasn’t going to stop them from completing the September challenge and earning some =PR= flair. Dan H. (One Loudoun Store Manager), Chris G. ( =PR= Crew Member), and Gina D. (=PR= Marketing/Social) set out at 5:00 AM in =PR= Leesburg and finished in =PR= D.C. with enough time to catch the metro back! Check out a few photos from their grand adventure. Along the way they stopped at each store to refuel, rest, and of course visit their =PR= family. To see the whole adventure unfold including the highs and lows check out our Instagram story highlights!
Start (Leesburg) -> One Loudoun
It was the perfect crisp fall morning to start the adventure.
One Loudoun- > Warehouse
Along the way we were joined by =PR= One Loudoun crew member Michelle S. Michelle logged a few miles with us just days before her virtual Marine Corps Marathon.
Warehouse -> Reston
We had a warm welcome at the warehouse from race director Terri and warehouse runner Carlos. They greeted us with snacks and water! On the way to Reston, we were surprised (literally jumping out of the bushes) by =PR= co-owner Ray Pugsley followed by old friend and former crew member Ryan G.
Reston -> Vienna
The run from Reston to Vienna was great, the sun was shining bright! Fun Fact: We even made time to jump on a Zoom meeting in Vienna for a staff training!
Fairfax -> Burke
Fun fact: We saw the first customer of the day in Fairfax. The first 4 stores were not open when we got to them so it took us a while to see a customer but boy were we happy when we did!
Burke -> Springfield
We took a lunch break in Burke and fueled ourselves with fries.
Springfield -> Arlington
Our friends in Springfield cheered us on as we entered the store. We took a quick break for pizza and then got ready for what would be the hardest part of the tour. This was our longest section and the pain was starting to kick in and the sun was slowly going down.
Arlington -> D.C.
The trio were joined by some friends for the last few miles to D.C. Our grand total for the day was 71 miles! Of course if you add the metro ride home…
We checked in with Dan, Chris, and Gina a few days after and here were their final thoughts on the 100K Store Tour:
A word from Dan: “Teamwork is what made it happen! I never doubted we’d finish, but there were a few tough moments, like finding our way in the dark through the woods in Arlington 60 miles in. I think my favorite point was crossing into DC on Key Bridge over the Potomac with the water below and night sky – that was a surreal moment! “
A word from Chris: “ I am ready for the next challenge… Let’s gooo.”
A word from Gina: “ What an adventure… it was a grand day with LOTS of highs. Dan and Chris kept me motivated all run long and knowing that I got to see all my PR buddies along the way made it that much better. Was I sore? YES. Was it worth it? ABSOLUTELY. Did I eat a cupcake seconds after arriving in DC? YOU BET I DID. A big thank you to the PR family and customer support along the way!”
