Tiny Toes and First Timers
Being fit for shoes should start at an early age so that your little one is off to a great start and makes big strides right from the get go. We offer shoe fittings for youth and have a selection of kids shoes too! When selecting shoes for children it’s important to consider the fact they are always growing. Make sure to allow for additional space in their shoes in order to accommodate their ever growing feet. We love the Kids Altra Kokiri, which comes with a removable insole and is designed to provide extra room for growing feet. Another important factor to consider when selecting shoes for your children is the laces. Has your little one not yet mastered the art of tying their shoes? No problem! We have an easy solution… try run laces. Run laces are a quick way to get shoes on and off without ever tying them. Now that you know about our youth fittings, you can make a trip to =PR= not just for you but for your children too!
Soccer, lacrosse, swim, track, cross country, baseball, basketball… should we go on? Potomac River Running works with a number of high school and youth athletes from all different sports. We know that every athlete needs a good pair of sneakers. No matter the sport, having a pair of comfortable footwear is key to your overall performance and training. Remember, all youth get 15% off their purchases!
For athletes that come from a cleat background, we can help you find a pair of trainers for days that you are cross training or just kicking it! We can also help you make your cleats feel better. Our team is no stranger to the aches and pains that come from cleats and sometimes a simple fix such as adding an insole can make all the difference.
For track and field and cross country athletes, our team can help you not only find a pair of trainers but show you our wide assortment of performance shoes and spikes. So before you head to practice, drop by and let us help you get fit. And don’t forget, if you are a high school athlete, be sure to mention your school name at check out so we can donate $5 back to your school’s sport program with any footwear purchase.
The Regular, Been There Done That
Mom and Dad, this is nothing new to you, you know the drill already. In fact you know it so well we probably know you by name and maybe even by shoe too! But just because you have been a loyal =PR= customer for years (thank you by the way!) doesn’t mean you can’t learn a thing or two! When getting ready for your next fitting there are a few things to consider…
When did you purchase your last pair? Often, our most regular customers wait longer than recommended before getting fit for a new shoe. It’s important to be fitted regularly especially if you are logging mile after mile on your shoes. What do you use your shoes for? Are they for running only? Walking only? Running errands or maybe both? Depending on the use of the shoes you want to have a pair that you keep for fitness only and for running errands to extend the life of the shoes. Looking to go faster, run a new personal record, or trying new workouts? All these things can play a part in the fitting process because what you use the shoes for can guide our team to helping you find a pair that is just right. Keep in mind over time your feet will change. For example, moms, did you notice any changes after having kids? You are not alone. A number of women will notice changes to their feet after pregnancy so being fit regularly is always important. And keep in mind just like your feet, footwear changes too, so why not see what’s new out there, who knows maybe it will be even better than what you already have!
The Wise Ones
Senior citizens all know the importance of wearing comfortable footwear. As you age your feet can change. After years and years of being on your feet nothing is more important than wearing shoes that feel good all day long. Wearing comfortable footwear can be the difference between staying active or becoming a couch potato. The more active you are, the greater your overall health and lifespan will be.
As you age there are a few things you may want to consider when being fit for new shoes. Do you wear any sort of orthotics or insoles? If so, be sure to bring those with you when you come in to get fit. Perhaps you don’t already wear them but need additional support for your feet. Be sure to mention this to our team and try a few pairs on to see if they enhance the overall fit and feel of your shoes. Have you had past injuries, surgeries, or day-to-day aches and pains? Our team can help you find footwear that will help alleviate some of those nagging pains and provide a better option than your current footwear.
