Dan grew up in Ottawa, Canada, and Bethesda, Maryland. He loved running as a kid but couldn’t pass a physical to join the cross country team, so he played recreational soccer instead. Dan began running again as a junior in college after recovering from his second open heart surgery. Running has become a path to well-being and a way of life for him. He prefers the half-marathon and marathon distances, but he’s also run several obstacle course races and mud runs. On his “rest” days, he enjoys cycling, swimming, cooking, and being ambushed by his cat.
