Runner Full Name: Lauren Haislip
Age Category: 25-29
Favorite PR Race: So hard to choose, I love them all! I’ll pick any of the races at South Lakes. I love running by the lakes!
Best Race Memory: Birthday Bash 5K in 2015! I had just started working at PR the month before. It was my first PR race and my first time racing since college. Working at PR motivated me to get back into running and start racing again. I saw many of my coworkers training for marathons or triathlons and doing amazing things. It was so inspiring!
How did you get started running? I started running my sophomore year of high school. I joined the indoor track team at Herndon High and loved it! I ended up running track the rest of my time at HHS. After high school, I ran track and cross country at Virginia Tech which was such an amazing experience. Now I just enjoy running for fun and to stay healthy. I also love running our local PR races.
Favorite Running Event/Distance? For me, the shorter the better! My favorite high school/college race was the 800 but my favorite adult race is the 5K!
What is your favorite part about running/racing?
Running: Running calms my mind and helps release stress. It always makes me feel happy and healthy!
Racing: Racing is so much fun! I love trying to improve my times!
Who is your biggest cheerleader/supporter? My husband Sean, my parents, and my dog Abby who attends every race I run!
What is your Spirit Animal? Why? Dogs! Dogs are amazing! They are always happy, and their love is unconditional.
What is your life’s motto? Words to live by? Just Breathe!
These words are important to me for many reasons. First, I have a lung condition, so I never taking breathing for granted! Second, remembering to just take a moment to pause and breathe helps me out when I am feeling stressed. Third, breathing is very important to running
Best Advice You Can Give: Don’t be too hard on yourself! This applies to both running and life!
T H I S O R T H A T

Top 3 Fun Facts, Tell Us Something About Yourself!
1) I love yoga! I just completed my yoga teacher training.
2) I had major lung surgery in the spring of 2018 and now have 225 permanent staples in my lung!
3) I used to be an accountant and a teacher before I went full-time at PR.

Favorite place to run:
1) Reston trails around Lake Audubon and Lake Thoreau
2) W&OD trail
3) Blacksburg, Virginia – I haven’t ran in Blacksburg since college but it is such a beautiful place to run.
Running is . . . medicine!
My last run was a . . . 3 mile run on Saturday with my dad! He is training for the virtual Father’s Day 5k!
My favorite thing about running . . . you can do it wherever you are as long as you have a pair of comfortable shoes!
If I wasn’t running I’d be . . . doing yoga
The accomplishment I am most proud of is: In the past few years, I have had 9 lung collapses leading to a major lung surgery in 2018. I think my biggest accomplishment is coming back from that surgery and starting to run again. In fact, I went on a very, very slow run 10 days after the surgery! While I am not as fast as I was prior to the surgery and I probably never will be, I am totally ok with that! I work to set new “post-surgery” personal records during races. Each time I go out for a run or toe the line at a race, I feel truly blessed that I am still able to run after all my body has been through!
When I grow up I want to be . . . One day I would love to own a yoga studio! I would have all sorts of fun classes that incorporate both running and yoga!
Favorite Yoga Pose: Dancer
Yoga pose that best describes you? Warrior 3. This pose is all about being both strong and balanced which are two things I always strive to be in everyday life!
Why is it important for runners to do yoga? Yoga is so helpful for runners. It is a great way to increase strength and range of motion which can help prevent injuries. A lot of runners are naturally inflexible so yoga can really help loosen up those tight spots. Also, it is super relaxing so it is perfect for runners who might be nervous or stressed about an upcoming race.
Best part of your job? I love every part of my job! It is fun to fulfill online orders and I also love brainstorming ideas with the marketing team and then putting them into action!
What do you love most about working at =PR=? Two things! First, I love helping customers whether that is working in-store or fulfilling orders online. Second, I love our =PR= family. =PR= employees are truly the best. I am lucky to have such amazing coworkers.
