This month’s employee spotlight is =PR= Graphic Designer, Elise. If you have ever run a =PR= Race or bought a =PR= Graphic Tee then it’s likely you are wearing a design by Elise. She is the face behind our bibs, race shirts, medals, and a number of our store graphic tees. When Elise isn’t working hard to make us look good, she can be found playing soccer and teaching her daughter how to play. Her favorite running accessory is a soccer ball. In addition, she loves to get her family involved in participating in a number of the =PR= Races. Learn more about Elise in this month’s employee spotlight.
Runner Full Name: Elise Gebauer
Age Category: 30 – 34
Favorite =PR= Race:
Live race: Hmmm that’s tough. I think I’ll go with Run With Santa 5K. Might be biased here because I had the honor of being Mrs. Claus (and my husband was Santa) during the 2019 Run With Santa 5K. So. Much. Fun!
Virtual Race: Mother’s Day 4 Miler 2020. This was right after COVID hit and my entire family decided to run it together, virtually. Locations spanning from Sterling, Reston, Silver Spring, Boston, and Seattle!
First Race: I believe my first race may have been the 2015 Turkey Day 5K. I now have run it every year since!
Favorite Race Memory: Favorite race memory was running the Glory Days XC5K (my first XC race) a couple months after having my daughter. It totally kicked my butt, but it felt so good getting out and active again. I actually ended up placing top 3 in my age group for the first time ever at a 11:30 pace! Think I need to start running in smaller races more often!
How did you get started running? Keeping in shape for soccer.
Favorite Running Event/Distance? I’ll go with 1 mile. Short and sweet.
What is your favorite part about running and or racing? Being outside and enjoying the fresh air… away from the computer. Less screen, more green!
Who is your biggest cheerleader/supporter? My husband hypes me up quite a bit, but my entire family has always been a huge support.
What is your Spirit Animal? Why? You know, I’ve never really had an idea of what my spirit animal is. I think I’ll go with a sloth though. Low key and mostly a go-with-the-flow type of person. My running skills may be in the sloth department too.
What is your life’s motto? Words to live by? Live everyday as if it were your last because someday it will be.
