“Sole”mates Make the Best Training Partners

Grab your “sweat”heart, galentine, bromance, teammates, and training partners and get ready to sweat together with these 5 partner workouts. Also, learn the benefits of working out together!

Try These 5 Partner Workouts:

1. Partner Pick
One partner selects the route, trail, location for the day. Explore a new location, trail, or route with the help of your tour guide, your partner!

2. Friendship Fartleks
Start by warming up, then once you are ready, Friend A selects the amount of time to “go hard” Friend B select the amount of time to “go easy.” Switch at the halfway point.
*Go Hard – Is a push pace or sprint
*Go Easy – Is a recovery pace or normal conversation pace

3. Catch Me If You Can
Start by warming up, then once your ready, Partner A will go at a moderate pace for a pre-determined distance with a 10-30 second lead. Partner B will go and try to catch them before they make it to the pre-determined distance. For example, Partner A runs 400 meters on a track and starts 10 seconds before Partner B then Partner B goes to catch them. Recovery equal distance and then switch!

4. More Time to Talk.
Schedule an easy day with your best running friend or training partner and log some miles while you catch up and enjoy conversation pace. This is a great thing to do on a long run as well, who doesn’t like company on the long days!

5. Race You?
Select a race to complete then come up with a goal that you can both race for… For example: Biggest PR, Fastest Time, Quickest 2nd Mile, Best Race Photo Finish, then pick a prize to race for. Just a few examples we like… Losers cleans the dishes, laundry for a week, next coffee on you, winner gets a to pick the next race. Looking for a race? Benefits of Working Out With a Partner

1. Quality Time and A Quality Workout.
Spend quality time with the ones you love doing the things you love… running and walking. Who said a date can’t be a run?!

2. Helps You Go The Extra Mile.
On days when you are just not feeling it or having an off day, your partner will be there to push you and help you go the extra mile. Think of them as your cheerleader or motivator.  Just make sure you are there for them on days when they need your support.

3. Good Health.
Working out together is great way to catch up and spend quality time but it also means that together you are making time for your health and that means a longer life of love, friendship, happiness, and more miles together.

4. Be adventurous together!
Let’s face it your more likely to try something different, a new route, a new workout, and be a bit more adventurous when you have your best bud by your side.

5. More Fun.
Even your favorite hobby (cough running and walking) can be more fun when you add your favorite person to the mix. Running, walking, and working out are always better when your together!
