Cason & Lincoln
Meet the Kelley Brothers, Cason and Lincoln. Cason and Lincoln first got into running when their dad took them out on a 2 mile run when they were in Kindergarten and 1st grade. From there, they were hooked. Cason noted “I wanted to keep going,” and that is just what they did. They would go out and about on runs with their dad for the next few years before competing in their first =PR= race.
Once they started racing, they learned that they liked races even more than going on runs. Cason and Lincoln have both competed in a number of our =PR= Races and both have had success placing in their age group category. When asked what their training looks like, they noted that on occasion they do hill sprints but really don’t train a lot for running. Instead, Cason and Lincoln stay active and in good running shape with a number of sports teams they are involved with including football, wrestling, and cross country. They especially love cross country because of the challenging courses and trails they get to race on!
We asked both boys where they saw themselves in ten years and here’s what they had to say. Lincoln stated he hopes to be in the Olympics and compete in the marathon. Lincoln ran his first half marathon at the age of 9 and hopes to do a marathon by the age of 16. Lincoln said at first when he finished the half marathon he “didn’t want to do it again,” but later he said, “I hope to do it again.” Lincoln prefers long distance runs as he is not much for sprints. Younger brother Cason hopes to one day play sports in college. He is interested in either wrestling at Wisconsin or running at The University of Oregon. When asked why both schools he noted that Oregon is the very best and as for Wisconsin, well let’s just say he is a big time Wisconsin sports guy! Cason noted that his favorite football team is… you guessed it, the Green Bay Packers! As for his sports hero, it is quarterback Brett Favre.
Be sure to look out for both these boys at our next race, they may be young but when it comes to racing they are right up front ready to take on anyone at any age.
