The Nike Zoom Vomero has long been considered the workhorse shoe of the Zoom collection. In the past, the Vomero has been a bit more structured of a neutral shoe. Not a stability shoe, but not as nimble as other shoes with a more curved last. With this most recent update, we see some major aesthetic and technological changes.
The 14th iteration of Nike’s high cushion neutral shoe now features a full-length Air Zoom unit and is working with the React cushion midsole, replacing Lunarlon. This Air Zoom unit still provides a smooth, snappy feel on top of the already smooth React midsole.
The Vomero 14 now features a flared-out heel counter, similar to the Pegasus 35 that was released earlier in 2018. This is done to reduce rubbing on the Achilles.
The Zoom Vomero 14 does trim a bit weight, losing about a full ounce from its previous generation. The official launch of the Nike Zoom Vomero 14 is January 1, 2019, but it is available at all Potomac River Running locations as of November 29th, while supplies last.
